Meet cannabis Grow Guru Dan Grady

Dan Grady is someone special to us. We met Dan about 4 years ago when Eddy was just starting out as an idea and he convinced us that real-time reads were critical for cannabis growers, professionally and as a hobby. DAn has built and managed multi-billion grows and has definitely made an imprint on our business and lives. Why Dan grows? “I get to help facilitate those intimate moments all over the continent for people, and I get to do it anonymously. It’s like I’m present in a way, and I really like that.” Want to be a featured Grow Guru? Sign up here.

Where do you grow? State, City
All over North America, currently Northern Ontario
Why do you grow?
I grow to bring people together. When I harvest I’m reminded how many people will smoke the cannabis I grow. How many will share my work with their friends. I get to help facilitate those intimate moments all over the continent for people, and I get to do it anonymously. It’s like I’m present in a way, and I really like that. I’ve never wanted to be famous, or big on social media, or even recognized for what I do. I just want to keep pushing forward and making moments better for people one harvest at a time. Bringing people together is why I grow.
How long have you been growing?
12 years
Favorite grow medium?
Living organic soil
Indoor, outdoor or greenhouse. Why?
All of the above. I truly believe they all have their market and reasons. Most passionate about outdoor though.
Seed or clone?
Yes please 🙂
Nutrients you love or make?
Big fan of REMO Nutrients, but I’m willing to go outside of my comfort zone and use whatever is available and makes sense for the application.
Lighting choices?
DE HPS, LED, and the beautiful sun.
What is your favorite plant of all time? It can also be a strain. Let us know why you love it.
Favorite of all time. That’s a tough one. I’m still partial to a clone floating around referred to as Mango. Had a premature batch of seeds from a Green Crack cross back in 2006-ish that necessity dictated I germinate. Seed run came out horribly. I didn’t have any other genetics at the time, so I kept the clones I had made, and the subsequent production run was out of this world. Other favorite strains, Gorilla Glue #4, Super Lemon Haze, Cheese, and SFV OG.
How has cannabis affected your life?
Cannabis allows me to relax, relate, and rejoice.
Tell us about your biggest farming/growing/gardening screw up.
Biggest screw up. Probably putting about 600 plants outside in June in Colorado, only to get a hard freeze in the second week of June. Came out in the morning to completely black wilted ladies. They were very much not alive anymore. Big risk, big reward with outdoor cannabis cultivation.
If there was one song you could play to your plants, what would it be? Choose one song we should add to our growers playlist!
Wyclef “Something About Mary”

Final question — everyone has a superpower or a special skill. Tell us about yours. Can be growing related, or not.
Psychology of growing. The ability to speak to anyone and make them feel my passion for cannabis.
